Chantal 4 qt / 11" Nonstick Saute w/ Lid Durable German enamel covers a quick-heating carbon steel core. Features stay-cool stainless steel handles. Chantal's Enamel-on-Steel cookware is developed from an age-old recipe that through the years has been perfected to keep pace with today's demanding consumer. Enamel-on-steel is made by fusing colored glass to metal. Melted together at just the right degree creates a new compound that's durable and corrosion-resistant. In fact, it's so tough, that it's used in high-traffic locales like roadway tunnels and subway stations. The "A" quality enamel used by Chantal is resistant to acids and alkalines: and is made from natural materials, like sand and minerals. Because the surface is nonporous, it is naturally stick-resistant, non-recative to acidic foods, and nonabsorbent to oils. This, coupled with the unique characteristic to withstand freezing temperatures, makes Chantal well-suited for make-ahead meals. Chantal uses heavy gauge materials for even heat distribution and to prevent warping. With oven-proof handles you can start a dish on the stovetop and finish in the oven. Chantal's stainless steel handles are safe to put in the oven and have the added benefit of staying cool on the stovetop. Chantal's smooth enamel glass-like finish is naturally stick-resistant which makes it easy to clean and doesn't require seasoning or polishing. Chantal's high-fired enamel coating seals in the base metals, so no flavors or oils are absorbed into the cooking surface or released back into the foods.
